Privacy Policy
HIMBY uses a small amount of account, analytics, and technical data so the service can run safely, remember saved items, and improve search quality over time.
Anonymous usage tracking
We collect limited usage information to understand how people use HIMBY. We design this data to avoid directly identifying you wherever possible.
When you search, HIMBY may create a random browser identifier so we can estimate unique usage, measure reliability, and debug search quality. This identifier is not intended to reveal your identity.
Search telemetry may include the postcode, query text, planner/debug markers, latency, and result quality signals needed to improve the product. We use this to evaluate search usefulness, not to build advertising profiles.
Accounts and saved services
If you create a HIMBY account, account authentication is handled through Clerk. HIMBY stores the account identifier and the settings needed to attach your saved services and preferences to your user profile.
Signing out removes access to those saved items on that browser until you sign back in to the same account.
Cookies and analytics
HIMBY may use essential browser storage for language choice, saved UI settings, and authentication state. Optional analytics cookies may also be used to understand site performance.
You can accept or decline optional cookies in your browser. If optional analytics are disabled, core search features should still work.
Data retention and hosting
Operational search logs, debug traces, and cached progress data may be stored temporarily on our hosting providers so we can monitor uptime and investigate failures.
We aim to keep this operational data only for as long as it is useful for security, reliability, and product review work.
Your choices
- You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings.
- You can sign out at any time to stop local access to your saved services on that device.
- For the wider legal terms of the service, read the Terms & Conditions.
